In 2005 she founded Type3 Studio, a full-service architectural practice, based in London. Their work included residential projects, mixed-use and leisure, as well as masterplanning and office fit out. Type3 were often appointed at the strategic stage of the project, providing development and planning advice, securing planning permission for challenging sites .Type3 Studio developed a varied portfolio with projects all over the UK.
In 2020 Jill set up Ingram Design, focused on architectural interior projects, generally within a historic context, but maintaining the sustainability principles of Type3 Studio. Jill has successfully obtained planning permission for projects across the UK, including numerous listed buildings, projects in conservation areas and sites of special scientific interest. She believes in creating an open dialogue with the planning and conservation offerers from the outset, to understand their concerns, and ensuring they understand the objectives of the client.
Her experience in strategic briefing allows her to understand the complex and often contradictory interests of planners, local amenity groups, stakeholders and clients. Creating simple design briefs to solve complex problems and producing contextually distinctive spaces and buildings. Sometimes applying construction techniques from commercial office development to one off houses, or bringing bespoke solutions to large scale master-plans. Always with an eye for design detail, and innovation, but also with the underlying understanding of how, why and for whom things get built.
